TECHNOplants s.r.l. - Transversal Cutters
<< Back

The task of the cutting units is to pick up the product from the machine immediately upstream, and to perform longitudinal and/or transverse cuts at set measurements, and to feed it to the machine immediately downstream for further storage operations.

Depending on the materials to be processed, or on the customer's specifications, three main cutting units have been designed:

- Longitudinal cutting unit

- Transverse cutting unit

- Combined cutting unit

Designed for flexibility, all the cutting units can be combined with each other to provide the configuration required by the type of material to be processed.

Therefore, they can be applied on different types of customised structures, while keeping their manufacturing and functional features intact.

Transversal Cutters

The function of this kind of machine is to carry out transverse cuts on material that has been processed at pre-set measurements.

Depending on the kind of material to be cut, the transverse cutting units come in the following sub-groups:

- Guillotine cutting (TC-GB)
  • Machine designed for stiff and needled material, where one has to make instant cross cuts without using an accumulator.

  • - Cross guillotine cutting (TC-GBE) (pictured above)
  • Machine uses a combined vertical and horizontal blade movement to cut the material, this feature makes it particularly suitable for cutting flash wadding and felt, even at low weights and thicknesses.

  • - Shear cutting (TC-GSC)
  • Machine designed for transversal cutting of heat-melted materials, normal wadding or thin consolidated products for that require immediate cutting.

  • - Running circular blade cutting (TC-RB)
  • Machine designed for transversal cutting of heat-melted materials, normal wadding or materials of low or medium thickness (5-200 mm) and unitary weight.

The characteristics of this machine make it particularly fit for cutting wadding made up of bicomponent fibers.

  • - Non stop running circular blade cutting (TC-RB.NS)
  • Machine designed for transversal cutting of materials made up of fibers, that because of their structural characteristics cannot be accumulated at the time of cutting, and cannot be cut with an instantaneous traditional guillotine; therefore, cutting occurs without halting the line thus allowing the normal flow of material at the set speed.

  • - Multiple circular blade cutting (TC-MB)

    - Circular scissor blade cutting (TC-SC)

    - Continuous straight line cutting (TC-BS)
  • Machine specially designed for transversal and longitudinal cutting of high volume waddings (high loft wadding) up to 300 mm thickness- without structural strain but with perfectly vertical cuts - lengthwise as well as crosswise - by means of a belt saw which runs around two pulleys.

The crosscut is made by a belt saw blade, twisted by 90° and driver by an asynchronous motor + inverter. The blade runs across the width of the machine and around two driving and transmission pulleys. Two clamping bars, driven by pneumatic pistons are placed in front and behind the belt saw blade, compress the material to obtain clean and vertical cross cut. The pressure of the twin clamping bars can be tuned according to the thickness and consistency of the wadding that is to be trimmed.

  • Guillotine cutting, cross guillotine, multiple circular blade and continuous straight line cutting may be provided with a pre-cutting device, affording partial cuts that make it easy to divide the material.
