Radio Frequency (RF) Systems - Bobbins and Packages: (TD/TDW)
<< Back

Drying bobbins shown.

THE MOST EFFECTIVE UTLIZATION OF RF DRYERS IS ACHIEVED WHEN:
  • product is homogeneous and has a regular shape: there can be a risk of fire if attempts are made to continuously process materials of different geometrical shape
  • product has a uniform moisture content: flash dryers upstream of the RF units should be avoided
  • the initial moisture content of the products is less than:
  • wool 50%
  • cotton 60%
  • acrylic 18%
  • mixed fibres 40%
  • metal objects are avoided
  • the product is not passed through more than once

NOTE

The most difficult materials to treat are acrylics because their molecules become strongly polar when their temperature exceeds 80 °C. They will heat up even further in the absence of water and their moisture regain rates are very low ( 2% ).
