TEMPTEK central chillers are designed circulate a fluid medium (typically water, or a water-gylcol solution) through a process application for COOLING.
TEMPTEK central chillers can supply temperatures between 20° to 65°F. Central chillers service several processes at a time, throughout the entire plant. As such, central chillers are stationary, and require a circulating system (a pump tank station) to distribute water to the processes. Central chillers are offered in capacities from 5 to 180 tons.
TEMPTEK central chillers are offered as modules or packages. A central chiller module is a stand-alone chiller unit that requires a pump tank station to distribute the chilled water it produces. A central chiller package is a self-contained unit with the chiller unit and pump tank station on a single platform.
AIR-COOLED UNITS use ambient air to dissipate process heat. These units efficiently run in plant ambient air temperatures between 60° to 95°F.
Major benefits to air-cooled units are heat recovery (for supplemental heating), exhaust air ducting (for plant ventilation), and less operating expense. Different models offer different controller sophistication, capacities and process pump sizes.
WATER-COOLED UNITS use a plant water supply source (tower water, city water, or well water) to dissipate process heat. Major benefits to water-cooled units are less capital expense and less maintenance. Different models offer different controller sophistication, capacities and process pump sizes.
Since central chillers use refrigeration as the cooling means, a method to dissipate the heat acquired from process is needed. Thus, portable chillers are available in AIR-COOLED or WATER-COOLED designs. The choice between air-cooled or water-cooled depends plant environment conditions.
